Birchbox: Just Because Gift Box

My husband ordered me the "Just Because" gift box from Birchbox.

Say it with me "awwwwwwwwwwwwww."

I didn't even know they did these kind of gift boxes as I've never seen anyone mention them before. Admittedly, I don't spend much time on the Birchbox site although I eagerly await my delivery every month!

The "Just Because" box came packaged just like the monthly boxes do. I am a sucker for cute packaging and Birchbox never fails in this area. Everything is always so neatly presented and this was no exception.

There was a card inside that included a little note on one side and a list of the items included on the other side.

The products included are: A set of four cloth NEST Indian Block Print Coasters, Quince & Apple Preserves, Papabubble Candy, Shu Uemura Essence Absolue, Jouer Creme Eyeshadow in Feather, and Lipstick queen Jean Queen Lip Gloss.

The coasters don't match my decor, the candy wasn't tasty, and I'll never use the preserves.

As for the three makeup/beauty items, I've never heard of Jouer or Lipstick Queen. That is a positive because it gives me a chance to try products/brands I've never experienced before. (Which is the whole point of Birchbox, right?) I have heard of Shu Uemura of course but I've never used any of their hair products. I've heard some excellent things about the Essence Absolue and am psyched to try it!

Final Verdict: I'm neutral on the "Just Because" gift box. I think they should stick with makeup/beauty items. Food and decor are so dependent on a persons particular taste. I just don't think Birchbox will please the majority of people if they continue to include those items.

  1. I've been thinking about the Birch Box but I barely wear makeup as it is, and have an entire closet full, so I shouldn't :/

    P.S. Love the new background!
