1. Clarisonic Mia
These are going to be in no particular order...with the exception of this item. It is being listed first for a reason: it has changed my life! I adore this product. Now don't get me wrong, it IS an investment since it is sitting right around $150. My husband gave this to me for my birthday this year....I'm not sure I could have justified the expense otherwise. I have been using it since July and it is phenomenal. I have used a bunch of different face cleansers with it (from higher end such as the Clinique 3 step system to low end drug store products such as the L'Oreal Go 360 face wash) and it honestly doesn't seem to matter any more which I use. My skin looks a LOT better than ever and it is all due to the Mia. Totally worth the investment....especially since I can get away with less expensive face wash (I'm currently using one from Soap & Glory which I purchased at Target).
2. Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude
While I've been "into" makeup since 2007, this excluded lipsticks. I have always been afraid of lipstick. Not sure why but I figured you just had to be ultra confident to pull it off and so I stuck with its much safer sister: lipgloss. This lipstick was a perfect one for a scared newbie like me. It gives you the most stunning nude lip without making you look dead. Thanks to this lipstick I have branched out into other colors but when I'm in doubt about which one to wear, I always come back to this one. And you cannot beat the ultra low price!
3. Urban Decay Naked Palette
My parents give me money for my birthday. I much prefer it this way as I get to pick out just what I want. This past July, I knew just what I was going to purchase with my birthday money. The Urban Decay Naked Palette. I don't even feel like I have to elaborate on this because it has been talked about SO much in the makeup world. If you aren't on the up and up though, this is THE must have eyeshadow palette. If you love neutral eye shadows (which are my absolute fav) then this palette is really all you need. If you purchase ONE item of makeup for yourself in all of 2011 then this should be IT.
4. Urban Decay Primer Potion
The best eyeshadow base. And I've tried so many. Too Faced Shadow Insurance pales in comparison. MAC paint pots don't give your shadow the staying power that UDPP does. It keeps your eyeshadow looking fabulous all day long.
5. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
This is a long time favorite for me. While I don't care much for the Clinique face wash or toner, this moisturizer is the best! I have combination skin and this does the trick. It doesn't break me out or make me look oily but yet it also takes care of the drier areas of my face so that they don't look flakey.
So there you have it. My personal picks for the year of 2010. I was going to make it a top 10 in 2010 (because that has a jazzier ring to it) but I was struggling to think of what the other five would be and that doesn't seem right. Also, I like to use something a long time in order to make it a favorite or HG (holy grail) item. All of the above have been used for 6+ months. They have stood the test of time and that is really saying something since I love to experiment with different products.
What are your HG beauty products?
